Rector’s Series: Theology and Mission

Fr Andrew Sempell

Thursday 9, 16, 23, 30 November, 6:30pm-8pm, St James’ Hall

‘Mission statements’ are de rigueur for institutions in the modern western world. Our St James’ Parish one reads: we are to be “a transformational community built on the love of God and worked out in the ministries of word, sacrament and incarnation.” But do we need such statements? Are they merely marketing ploys to differentiate our product from others and thereby give us an edge? Or, perhaps the church is only a ‘service club’ for religious people, similar to Rotary or Lions? This series of studies explores the relationship between what we believe, who we are, and what we do as Christians.

A light meal is provided during these talks, you can attend one event or the entire series.

Tickets for the series are $60 ($50 conc) including a light meal, or $20 per session.
