THE GRAND TOUR – A Baroque Road Trip

The Grand Tour 1080x450

5:00pm, Saturday 27 May
St James’ Church, King Street, Sydney
The Choir of St James’
Australian Baroque Brass (dir. John Foster)
with Tobias Cole (Countertenor)

Journeys through Europe were an educational rite of passage which flourished through the 17th, 18th and early 19th centuries. Searching for art, culture and education through the exposure of classical antiquity and the Renaissance, they became extremely fashionable with the polite English upper classes.

Tracing our journey through music of the ages and the various cities visited, this is a concert steeped in the wonderment of the European Baroque, featuring seasoned favourites and lesser-known gems by Purcell, Handel, Vivaldi and others.
