Following two acclaimed seasons, Harmony of Keys and the Bow returns for its third instalment, bringing together violinist Harry Wang and pianist Jack Cheng for an afternoon of music that celebrates artistry, partnership, and the enduring beauty of the chamber repertoire.

United by a shared musical vision, the duo has established a partnership distinguished by expressive insight, technical refinement, and a genuine artistic rapport. Their performances invite audiences into a musical conversation in which violin and piano meet as equal voices, revealing the richness and intimacy of the repertoire.

This season’s programme spans more than three centuries, tracing a journey from the elegance of Bach to the poetic lyricism of Dvořák, the luminous sound world of Ravel, and the profound musical imagination of Beethoven.

The afternoon opens with Bach’s graceful Tempo di Bourrée and Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 11 in B-flat major, before culminating in the first half with Dvořák’s richly expressive Violin Concerto in A minor. Following the interval, Amazing Grace offers a moment of quiet reflection, leading to the shimmering brilliance of Ravel’s Jeux d’eau. The programme concludes with Beethoven’s monumental Violin Sonata No. 7 in C minor, one of the defining works of the violin and piano repertoire.

Whether a lifelong concertgoer or discovering these masterpieces for the first time, audiences are warmly invited to share an afternoon of music that inspires, connects, and endures.

Biography:

Harry Wang | Violin

Harry Wang is a Chinese-Australian violinist recognised for his expressive artistry, technical brilliance and remarkable musical maturity. Currently studying at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under the guidance of Professor Simon James, he is establishing himself as one of the most compelling young violinists of his generation.

Harry has received international recognition through major competitions, including First Prize at the Vienna Virtuoso Festival, consecutive Gold Awards with Honours at the Singapore International Solo Competition, and First Prize at the 2025 Coeur d’Alene Symphony Young Artist Competition. His artistry has been further shaped through studies and masterclasses with distinguished violinists including Ole Bøhn, Zakhar Bron, Ning Feng, Danielle Belen and Paul Kantor.

He has performed at renowned venues including Vienna’s Musikverein Golden Hall, the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Town Hall, while his recent collaborations include appearances with Green Day at Super Bowl LX, Stewart Copeland’s Police Deranged for Orchestra at SFJAZZ, and the annual Game Developers Conference Concert in San Francisco.

Combining refined musicianship with an adventurous artistic spirit, Harry continues to captivate audiences through performances of depth, elegance and authenticity.

Jack CHENG | Piano

Jack (Jiaqi) Cheng is an Australian concert pianist and educator acclaimed for his virtuosity, musical sensitivity, and dynamic artistry. He has established an international performing career, appearing as a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative pianist in Australia, the United States and China.

As a Young Steinway Artist Jack holds both a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music in New York. He also earned the prestigious Licentiate of Music, Australia (LMusA), and Associate of Music, Australia (AMusA) diplomas from the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB).

His musical development has been shaped by distinguished mentors including Clemens Leske, William Wolfram, and the late Phillip Kawin. He has also worked with internationally renowned artists such as Marc Silverman, Alexander Korsantia, Ignat Solzhenitsyn, Matti Raekallio, Heasook Rhee, and Phillip Shovk.

Jack has performed at many of the world’s distinguished concert venues, including the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Town Hall, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, and The Riverside Church in New York. His performances have earned him numerous national and international awards, competition prizes, and scholarships.

A passionate advocate for music education and community engagement, Jack is dedicated to inspiring audiences through innovative concert programming. In 2023, he led a sold-out nationwide Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto Marathon across Australia, celebrating the 150th anniversary of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s birth. He was also a finalist in the 2024 Australian National Piano Award, one of Australia’s most prestigious piano competitions.

More recently, Jack successfully presented two acclaimed editions of Harmony of Keys and the Bow, a concert series celebrating the artistic dialogue between piano and violin. The performances showcased masterworks from the classical repertoire and reflected his commitment to fostering meaningful collaborations and bringing chamber music to wider audiences.

Currently based in Sydney, Jack continues to perform extensively while maintaining an active teaching studio, inspiring the next generation of musicians through performance, education, and artistic leadership.
