Dedicated to the glory of God at our Patronal Festival in July 2024, the Bicentennial Pipe Organ has been in constant use ever since – enriching our services, concerts, recitals, and masterclasses.
Since its installation, we’ve had the privilege of welcoming some of the world’s finest organists to perform in our historic Georgian church, including Martin Baker, James O’Donnell, Felix Hell, Johann Vexo, Joseph Nolan, and Sarah Kim.
Crafted by Dobson Pipe Organ Builders of Lake City, Iowa, this instrument is the first of its kind in the southern hemisphere. Its remarkable versatility allows it to shine equally in liturgical settings and as a concert instrument.
This recent video offers a behind-the-scenes look at the story of this landmark project. We are deeply grateful to the St James’ Music Foundation for their generous support – both in the production of the video and in the major fundraising efforts that brought this instrument to life.
